Roadway & Stream Cleanups

Successful Adopt-A-Street, Adopt-A-Stream and Adopt-A-Highway programs in our community engage volunteers to conduct periodic cleanups of their adopted segments. Adopt-A-Street includes 251 volunteer organizations adopting more than 139 miles of street. These groups collectively gather 2,000 bags of trash from city roadways per year. Adopt-A-Stream program volunteers remove 500 bags of trash on average from over 10 miles of stream per year.

Roadway Cleanups:

Through the City’s Adopt-a-Street program, committed volunteers keep our city’s roadways free from litter and debris. The City provides the trash bags, you tell us when and where to pick them up when filled! This service commitment is great for individuals, community groups, business owners, schools, churches and services clubs. Nearly 120 segments are still available and waiting for new groups to adopt, OR choose to conduct a one-time cleanup.

Become an Adopter

Volunteers who adopt a minimum of .5 miles of arterial or collector streets and conduct litter pickup at least three times per year receive recognition on two adopt-a-street signs posted on each end of the adopted street segment as well as recognition on the City’s website.

One-Time Opportunities

Individuals or groups can schedule a one-time roadway cleanup event without committing long term. Choose from one of four quadrants in the City and our coordinator will pair you up with a section in need of a cleanup. Have a specific section of roadway in mind? Let us know!

Stream Cleanups:

Adopt-A-Stream connects citizens directly to area streams. Adopters remove trash, enjoy the stream environment and celebrate the improvements in water quality, parks and trails over time. Adopting organizations receive a recognition sign to be installed after two completed and reported cleanups. Not able to commit long term? One-time stream or drainage area cleanups are also an option!

Become an Adopter

Individuals, families, businesses and community groups can adopt a pre-selected portion of a major stream or small creek in need of periodic cleanup. The City provides tools and resources needed for you to organize your stream cleanup.
